Currently the only way you will know if your child has unfastened their seat
belt is relying on other children in the car telling you or constantly looking
over your shoulder to check. Neither of which are reliable or safe practices.
The Buckle-Me-Up is a warning system. It gives an audible and visual warning
when any seat belt to which it is fitted is unfastened while the ignition is on.
This allows the driver to pull over and ensure the seat belt is fastened. There
are three basic parts to the Buckle-Me-Up.
- The belt clip – this transmits a signal to the dash mounted receiver
that the seat belt is fastened.
- The plug – inserted into a cigarette light or adaptor socket to power
the dashboard unit by the 12V car battery.
- Dash mount receiver – is easily attached to the dashboard with a Velcro
strip. The unit will give alerts for up to six belt clip transmitters.
When turning the ignition on, the dashboard receiver will go to amber. When
all seats belts (connected to the system) are fastened, the receiver will give
two beeps and go to green.
