As Australia’s only free, 24 hour confidential and anonymous phone and online
counselling service for 5 to 18 year olds, Kids Helpline is a unique and
invaluable aid to Australian children all over the country.
They average 10,000 calls a week, but thousands more still go unanswered.
The idea of Lock Up Your Boss day is that you imprison your boss in his or her
office for an hour. To be released the boss has to raise $500 “bail” and that
bail money goes to Kids Helpline to answer more calls.
In past years, National Lock Up Your Boss Day has earned over half a million
dollars.
First, log on to the website and register your boss to receive the free kit with
the prisoner shirt, handcuffs, sheriffs’ badges, a camera and more.
Then organise a time. Lock Up Your Boss Day is August 13th but fit it in with
your boss’s diary.
Put up your WANTED posters you get to make up the crime, so make it funny. Then
you summons your boss, make the arrest and confine your prisoner to an office or
the boardroom or kitchen or wherever.
They don’t get out until they have raised at least $500 bail. All the money
raised will go to answering more calls at Kids Help Line. You can also win
fabulous prizes.
